The
VK-150 Power Swivel is in oilfield usage worldwide, including Alaska's
north slope, Wyoming, Texas, Oklahoma, Canada, Columbia, Bolivia, and Australia.
These machines have made a solid name for themselves as a heavy duty,
economical power swivel providing smooth, high torque. Since 1980, we
have been known for rugged, simple hydraulic drilling equipment, and the VK-
150 fits right in with these design criteria.
With a 150 ton static load capacity,
the VK-150 is also dynamically rated 97 tons at 150 RPM. Because of the large
gear widths and hydraulic motor capacities the units are capable of being
driven by up to 550 HP.
The
two high-torque, fixed displacement, piston-type hydraulic motors have a high tolerance for
contamination because of their low speed characteristics. These hydraulic
motors and two pinion gears drive a central bull gear to provide torque
ratings of 10,000 ft-lbs. or an optional 14,000 ft-lbs. The VK-150 uses a large
thrust bearing, a rugged 4 1/2" tool joint connection, and a full length 3" bore.
The full floating washpipe cartridge is quickly replaceable without removing the
mud hose, and is rated at
5000 psi. The cartridge can also be installed inverted to allow greasing
while rotating under pressure if desired.
The
swivel is balanced to hang vertically, and is also balanced to allow easy
tilting for stabbing the next joint of pipe.
Available
lifting devices include our Cobrahooks; these are link hooks which
allow wireline lubricator access to the gooseneck top connection for horizontal
drilling work. Hook-type and elevator-type bails are also available.
Standard
torque reaction assembly is two telescoping torque arms for use with wire
ropes tensioned vertically between crown and floor. These torque arms
have steel wire rope sheaves for rolling contact with wire ropes.
